Benjamin Cremaschi has experienced an incredible whirlwind over the past 24 months.
From signing a first-team contract in November 2022, to becoming a key part of Inter Miami’s midfield during the team’s Leagues Cup run last summer, the Key Biscayne native is set to add another accolade to his burgeoning career: Olympian.
“Being named to the Olympic team means a lot,” Cremaschi told Inter Miami in a pre-Olympics interview.
“My family knows it’s a major sports tournament and competition. The fact that I can be there and represent the USA, the country that I was born and raised in is huge for me.”
As the US Olympic team gets ready to begin their Paris campaign, here’s what Cremaschi had to say about joining up with the squad:

His first reaction to making the Olympic squad:
“Yeah, when [head coach Marko Mitrović] broke the news to me, I was in an elevator, he texted me [asking] if he can give me a call and I told him to call me right away. He [then asked me] if I was ready to play in the Olympics and I obviously said ‘yeah’ and thanked him for the opportunity.”

“The gesture was really nice for me and Diego [Gomez.] We’re both representing our countries in the Olympics and it was super nice to get that from [our teammates] that I’m with everyday and help me grow everyday.”
What he’s looking forward to the most in Paris:
“Playing, competing and trying to get as far [in the tournament] as possible, trying to bring back a medal, if its gold - even better. But, [the USMNT’s] goal is to try to win it all.”
On being an inspiration to other IMCF Academy players:
“I’ll tell the young kids that look up to me to enjoy [it], work hard, and focus on what they can control. Never put your head down, always keep on working with your chest high.”
