After weeks of tense negotiations that nearly fell apart at one point, Federico Redondo has finally been unveiled as an Inter Miami player.
The baby-faced central defensive midfielder was introduced to the media before Miami kicked off their CONCACAF Champions Cup campaign vs. Nashville SC.
In what was a rather relaxed press conference, the 21-year-old initially looked nervous and timid at the podium. As time went on, however, the ex-Argentinos Juniors man got comfortable and spoke candidly on several different topics.
On…..MLS:
"MLS is growing alot. They're investing alot in young players. Inter Miami has the ambition to play at the highest level. That's why I decided to come here."
Says he spoke to Atlanta United’s Thiago Almada before he made the move.
On….Playing With Messi:
"It's a dream."
Says he's been watching him since he was a child and he's looking forward to sharing the pitch with him.
On….Busquets Comparisons:
“[Sergio] is a player I studied a lot. I'm learning from him as well."
Says that he's happy to be here and for the opportunity!
On….Potentially Moving To Europe:
"Today, I have the goal of [winning with Inter Miami.] I hope we end the season at the top. That's all I'm focused on right now."
On….His Availability:
Redondo says he's fit and available to play however many minutes Inter Miami needs him to.
Some Other Tidbits:
Redondo speaks English quite well! He’s not fluent but knows just enough to converse with the media.
He also mentioned Messi being at the club was a big reason why he decided to come.
Fede also mentioned that moving to MLS is a great step for his career.
