Just a few days after their MLS season opener, Inter Miami took care of business in the CONCACAF Champions Cup, gliding past Sporting Kansas City in a 4-1 aggregate win.
Though Sporting looked largely toothless, Miami were clinical in front of goal, scoring three times with just four shots on target.
With the Herons on a quick turnaround, Javier Mascherano and his squad managed to get the job done without incident.
Here are three observations from Miami’s win vs. SKC.
Messi Stunner
It isn’t an Inter Miami match without Messi doing something insane. The World Cup winner got Miami’s first goal of the game with a stunning volley that frazzled SKC goalkeeper John Pulskamp.
Although this is a normal Messi occurrence, it never fails to shock fans and pundits alike with his ability to pull off the impossible.
Falcon Debut
Miami has been waiting for a center-back like Maxi Falcon.
The Uruguayan reads the game well, is aggressive, and has enough experience to partner with youngsters like Noah Allen or Tomas Aviles. IMCF fans should be looking forward to seeing him grow into his role at the back.
During the match, the 27-year-old had all these attributes on display (own goal aside) and looks to be a solid addition to Miami’s defense.
Noah Allen Wears Armband
With Messi and Busquets off the field, the captain’s armband was given to Noah Allen. Allen, an Academy product and Miami native, was one of the four homegrown who took the field alongside Ian Fray, Benjamin Cremaschi, and David Ruiz.
What did you think of the match? Let me know in the comments!
The play by play announcer assumed Messi gave the arm band to Noah. No. Messi gave it to Jordi as he was leaving the field, and in Jordi style, he gave it to Noah. Noah performed and wore it well.
like Allende work rate Still think overall lack of pace an issue
