Inter Miami clinched the all-time MLS single-season points record with a stunning 6-2 win over the New England Revs.
The game started slow, which led to the Herons conceding twice within 35 minutes.
Fortunately, Luis Suárez was able to get the men in pink back level before halftime
After that, Miami never let their foot off the gas, putting four more past New England, capitalized by a Lionel Messi hat trick.
The Argentine is in fine form as Inter Miami kicks off their MLS Cup run next Friday.
Here are Three Observations from Miami’s incredible 6-2 home win against the Revs.
1.) Inter Miami Make History
Inter Miami has officially clinched the record for the most points in an MLS season.
In what was a masterclass in attacking football, the Herons ended the match with a whopping 70% of the possession, 2.94 xG, and 24 total shots.
After the game, it was also confirmed that Miami had clinched a spot in the Club World Cup, hosting the opening game at Hard Rock Stadium on June 15th, 2025.
2.) Luis Suárez Shows Why His Contract Should be Extended
Though Messi will, rightfully, steal the headlines, Luis Suárez should also be lauded.
His two-goal, two-assist performance was the catalyst for Miami mounting a comeback.
With recent news that the Uruguayan could be extending his contract with the club, this offensive display couldn’t have come at a better time.
3.) Miami Almost Knows Who They’ll Face In The First Round of Playoffs
Aside from the surreal result in Fort Lauderdale, a few MLS results have given the Herons a glimpse of whom they might play in the playoffs.
Miami may take on CF Montreal or Atlanta United if either team manages to win their wildcard match-up.
Who would you rather see Miami play?
