Hey peeps! Welcome to another edition of “Oppo Research” where I cover every MLS regular season opponent Inter Miami will face throughout 2024.
This weekend, the Herons will return to league play and take on Sporting KC.
After a tough outing in the CONCACAF Champions Cup where many fans began to believe that Miami would never win another piece of silverware again, the men in pink now have the opportunity to keep their spot within the top five of the Eastern Conference.
Furthermore, this weekend’s game will be extra special as both teams will play in front of a raucous crowd at Arrowhead Stadium, instead of SKC’s home turf at Children’s Mercy Park.
Manager: Peter Vermes
Projected Formation XI vs. Inter Miami: 4-3-3
Previous Result: 3-3 draw vs. the Portland Timbers
Current Record: 2W-4D-1L
Key Players:
William Agada, 24, forward. The Nigerian striker has 4G/A through six matches this year and will probably look to add to his tally against Inter Miami.
Erik Thommy, 29, central midfield. SKC’s creative force through the middle. Thommy will connect Sporting’s defense to attack with crisp passing and tight first touches.
Daniel Salloi 27, winger. Salloi has been one of the best left-wingers in the league for quite some time. Expect him to be a danger on Miami’s right-hand side.
Remi Walter, 28, central-midfield. The French midfielder is a scoring threat from the center of the pitch, with his late runs and impeccable timing. Don’t be shocked if he’ll try to get on the scoresheet on Saturday.
Weaknesses:
After scrolling through Reddit comments after SKC’s late collapse against the Timbers that resulted in a draw, many fans were irked at the team’s inconsistency during the final moments of the match:
“Just a fun fact for anyone curious. This team has dropped 9 points this season from winning positions and has conceded 9 goals after the 60th minute. We have conceded only 10 goals this season…,” one fan commented.
“If you're up 3-0 why aren't you making defensive subs to rest players?” another supported lamented.
Do you think Miami will get a good result vs. SKC this weekend? Let’s discuss it in the comments!
will we see the same starters more or less as the last home game?
