Player Ratings From Inter Miami's Mid-week Match vs. Atlanta United
At least they're still top of the East!....

Inter Miami dropped its first game in 10 matches with a 3-1 loss against Atlanta United.
The Herons looked hapless and uninspired despite a rotational squad getting a win vs. the Vancouver Whitecaps a few days earlier.
It was hot and muggy, with at least two water breaks during the 90 minutes.
Despite the forgettable loss, there is an upside to the match.
FC Cincinnati, the team Miami is competing with at the top of the Eastern Conference, also had an off night which means the Herons will maintain their top spot in the East.
Small victories, I suppose.
Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s loss vs. Atlanta.
Goalkeeping, Defense:
🧤 Drake Callendar - 7.5: Let down by his midfield consistently. Came up with some great saves, but as a goalkeeper, one can only do so much.
💨 Jordi Alba - 7.2: Tried his best to make some magic happen on the flank, but fell flat most of the time.
🏋️ Serhiy Kryvtsov - 8: The only player that covered himself in glory, really. Did a good job of preventing the score from getting worse than it was.
🦌 Tomas Avilés - 6.5: The silly yellows will cost him, eventually.
🎻 Marcelo Weigandt - 6.7: Appreciate his hustle! Unfortunately, he was stymied most of the match and was unable to make meaningful runs forward.
Midfield:
🐞 Federico Redondo - 6.3: Pleased to see him back from injury, but had too many misplaced passes during the match. Also, the coaching staff did him no favors by leaving him out for so long.
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 6.4: Not a great game by the Spaniard. Like Redondo, looked sluggish and was out of sorts most of the match.
🥨 Julian Gressel - 6.2: To be frank, most of the problems Miami encountered during the game appeared when he left the field. Tata said after the match he played a lot of minutes recently, therefore that’s why he took the German-American off early.
Attack:
🐐 Lionel Messi - 7.5: Got the goal, which was great. Unfortunately, I don’t think anyone had a standout night. Maybe the long resting period backfired? He’ll bounce back, obviously.
🔫 Luis Suárez - 6.3: Not the best night for “Lucho.” The desire is there, but Atlanta’s defense essentially snuffed out the middle of the pitch for Miami.
🪽 Robert Taylor - 6.2: We’ll always have Vancouver!
Substitutes:
💉 Matias Rojas - 6.5: Was the catalyst to Miami’s only goal of the night, but still didn’t show a desire to track back defensively.
🛎️ Leonardo Campana - 6: Tried his best, but could not make a real impact on the game.
Coaching:
🔢 Tata Martino - 6: The lack of substitutes was puzzling. It was evident that Redondo was tired by the time the second half rolled around, yet he was kept on the pitch for far longer than needed. Bringing on David Ruiz or Benjamin Cremaschi would’ve helped. Additionally, subbing on Rojas for Taylor and having the Paraguayan play on the wing would’ve given the team a different dynamic.
Post Game Quotes:
Tata on the game:
“The first feeling is that we were missing a gear. It was a night where the team went backwards from other matches. Today we were very lax throughout the lines. Atlanta won [every ball well.]”

Rough game but we’ll bounce back against St. Louis. Sounds like they were outrun and Atlanta wanted it more.
What can you say, that was all around $hit out there. Saw way too much fog on the brain with playing decisions.
