Player Ratings from Inter Miami's Nation's Capital Clash vs. DC United
Luis Suárez is incredible.

Heading into DC without their talisman, Inter Miami faced a tough match-up against Eastern Conference rivals, DC United.
After a tough first 10 minutes against the Black and Reds, Tata Martino made some tactical tweaks that helped the Herons earn valuable points on the road.
Martino rolled out his side in a 4-3-3 which didn’t do Miami any favors initially.
It wasn’t until Tata told Noah Allen to pick and choose his times to overlap forward did Miami finally get consistent chances on target due to the numbers that were able to advance forward.
After conceding in the 14th minute, the Herons were able to climb back through a Leo Campana goal in the 24th minute (kudos to Federico Redondo for not giving up on the play.)
Eventually, the game’s complexion changed with the substitution of Luis Suárez.
The Uruguayan scored a brace within 20 minutes, sealing the game and all three points for Miami.
Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s match vs. DC United.
*I’ll rate every player on a scale of 1 to 10, with 5 being average.*
Goalkeeping, Defense:
🧤 Drake Callender - 8: Solid game from the USMNT international. Got beat up pretty well, but held on to the ball.
💈 David Ruiz - 7.5: Though a midfielder by trade, Ruiz looked serviceable at right-back.
🦌 Tomas Avilés - 7.8: Another good game from the youngster, did well to prevent Benteke from scoring.
🐻 Nicolás Freire - N/A: Shame about the injury. Hopefully, he’ll recover enough for next week.
🐥 Noah Allen - 7.3: A good game from Allen. Maybe looked lost in the first couple of minutes, but managed to stymie DC’s attack.
Midfield:
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 7.4: Looked gassed by the time the match ended, but like I wrote in the previous Player Ratings, he’s helped greatly by the addition of Redondo.
✌️ Diego Gómez - 8: What a warrior. Ran himself ragged.
🐞 Federico Redondo - 9: Welcome to Miami! His best game in pink so far. Was active in both attack and defense.
Attack:
🥨 Julian Gressel - 7.6: Quickly becoming a key player for Tata Martino. Whether it be in midfield, on the wing or in defense, the German-American is a swiss-army knife.
🛎️ Leonardo Campana - 9: His best game of the season. Showed just how well stocked Miami is at the number nine position.
🪽 Robert Taylor - 8.3: Was crucial in stretching DC’s back-line. Though he didn’t get a goal, his action in the final third caused issues for the opposition.
Substitutes:
🏋️ Serhiy Kryvtsov - 7.7: Did a sensible job in place of Freire. Looked shaky at times but managed to frustrate DC’s attack.
🔫 Luis Suárez - 10: I don’t have anything to say, LOL. Continually showing why he’s the best striker of his generation.
🦒 Shanyder Borgelin - 6: Meh, didn’t really make an impact. But good job on drawing that red card, though!
💨 Jordi Alba - 6.3: Like Borgelin, didn’t do much, but his energy is incredible.
Coaching:
🔢 Tata Martino - 8.9: Alongside the Orlando match, one of his better games for Miami in 2024. The subs were spot on and the tactical tweaks helped the Herons earn all three points.
A quick note on…Federico Redondo

Campana is back and I love to see it. Gresel has been huge for us. Good game In general with polemical actions as always.
I'm impressed with how quick you wrote this. Great work as always 👏🏻
