In their third MLS game of the season, Inter Miami managed to stay calm after going down a man, once again, to beat Charlotte FC 1-0.
In what was a fairly normal match for the Herons, it all went south when Oscar Ustari got sent off for a DOGSO early in the first half.
Just like the match against NYCFC, Miami had to dig deep to find a result.
That they did.
Thanks to a moment of magic between Luis Suárez and Tadeo Allende, and a defensive masterclass from Miami’s backline, Miami ground out all three points.
Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s match versus Charlotte FC.
Goalkeeping, Defense:
🧤 Oscar Ustari - 5: Moment to forget for him.
💨 Jordi Alba - 8: Did well to organize and hold down the left side, even a man down.
🐥 Noah Allen - 9: Every game, he’s showing why he deserves to be a starter on this team.
🦒 Tomas Avilés - 6: Another yellow, another game cut short for him. With Falcon, Lujan, and Martinez on the team, Aviles may be falling down the depth chart.
🧔♂️ Gonzalo Lujan - 8.3: Great defensive work from him!
Midfield:
💪 Benjamin Cremaschi - 6.5: Had a couple of good moments in the first half, but due to the red, had to get sacrificed for the team.
🍝 Yannick Bright - 9 Unbelievable performance from the youngster. His defensive determination is what this Miami side needs to push for MLS Cup.
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 8.3: Good game from him. Defensively sound and led midfield well, even a man down.
🧉Tadeo Allende - 9.2: Scored the game-winner.
Attack:
🔫 Luis Suárez - 8.3: Assisted Allende’s game winner. Now has three goals and four assists in six competitions.
💣 Telasco Segovia - 7: Like Cremaschi, had to be pulled early due to tactical adjustments, but still played well.
Substitutes:
🪨 Rocco Rios Novo - 7: Had a few shaky moments, but held up in the end.
🍳 Ian Fray - 9: Another great performance from Fray. Locked down Zaha without an issue.
🐞 Federico Redondo - 6.7: Had better days!
💈 David Ruiz - 7.3: Hustled well after coming on. Kept up the pressure on Charlotee’s backline.
🇵🇾 David Martinez - N/A: Didn’t play long enough to warrant a rating.
Coaching:
🔢 Javier Mascherano - 9: Best defensive display from Inter Miami in a long time. Once they were down a man, Mascherano didn’t hesitate to bunker down and play a 5-4-0 formation to shut out Charlotte. Bravo.
What did you think of the match? Let me know in the comments!
Next up Jamaica. I think Messi plays.
Allende and Segovia are looking like stars in this league. Tough lineup decisions once Messi comes back. Redondo has been a disappointment, Bright needs to keep his spot in the midfield
