Inter Miami kept up their good run of form as of late with a resounding 5-1 win at home against the Columbus Crew last Saturday.
Coming off a 4-2 victory over CF Montreal, the Herons were keen on keeping that momentum going as they hosted a solid Crew side.
Nerves and shaky moments aside, the Men in Pink set the tone early with a Tadeo Allende strike in the 13th minute. The goals continued to flow from there, with Lionel Messi adding to the tally in the 15th and 24th minutes.
Luis Suárez then got in on the fun, netting his fifth goal of the season in the 64th minute. Fafa Picualt then topped off the match with another goal as the clock ticked towards 90.
As the Herons prepare to face Egyptian side Al Ahly in their opening match of the Club World Cup on June 14th, getting a few wins under their belt was imperative to boost squad morale.
Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s win over the Crew.

*I’ll rate every player on a scale of 1 to 10, with 5-6 being average/below average For the substitutes, I’ll judge accordingly. *
Goalkeeping
🧤 Oscar Ustari - 6: Honestly didn’t have much to do before he was taken off at half-time! Hope he recovers well.
Defense:
🐥 Noah Allen - 8: Another great game for the youngster. Quickly becoming one of Miami’s best defenders — if he isn’t there already.
🇵🇾 David Martinez - 7.6: Nice to see him get a run of games! Think he’s a bit underutilized by Mascherano, but it’s clear he has quality and pace to give the team.
🦅 Maxi Falcon - 7.8: Good return to form for the Uruguayan. Looked solid and dependable.
🎻 Marcelo Weigandt - 7.4: One of his better games in an Inter Miami kit. Was defensively sound and didn’t give up too much to a potent Crew attack.
Midfield:
💣 Telasco Segovia - 7.8: Looking more and more comfortable as Mascherano continues to play him centrally. Think his best position is alongside Busquets in the midfield.
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 8: Never retire pls….
💪 Benjamin Cremaschi - 7.7: Great game from him! Used his physicality, strength, and energy well to recover the ball and open up space for his teammates.
Attack:
🐐 Lionel Messi - 9: Well, yes!
🔫 Luis Suárez - 8: Scored his third goal in two games. Should drop any conversation about the Uruguayan not being the starter.
🧉Tadeo Allende - 7.8: Glad to see him back in form. There was a period during the season when he just looked out of sorts. Pleased that he’s back to where he was.
Substitutes:
🪨 Rocco Rios Novo - 7: Like Ustari, didn’t have much to do since Miami was so offensively dominant.
🍳 Ian Fray - 7.3: I like this “let’s put our central defenders as defensive midfielders (see: Tomas Avilés) experiment” Mascherano has going on. Will it continue to work? *shrugs*
🦌 Fafa Picault - 8.3: Great goal! Would like to see him get more playing time, though.
⛵ Ryan Sailor - N/A: Did not play long enough to warrant a rating.
🙏 Allen Obando -N/A: Did not play long enough to warrant a rating.
Coaching:
🔢 Javier Mascherano - 7.7: It seems like Miami always tends to get one over the Crew, even dating back to last season. Mascherano did well to nullify their strengths and to get the attack clicking again. Let’s see if they can keep this up during the Club World Cup.
Thoughts on the match? How do you think the team will do during the Club World Cup?
