Inter Miami dropped its second game of the season, conceding four goals in a lopsided defeat to Minnesota United.
What started as a hopeful road trip ended on the wrong foot as the Herons looked toothless in attack and suspect in defense.
Now, with the San Jose Earthquakes to play on Wednesday, the pressure continues to mount on Javier Mascherano to get the team back on track.
Here are Player Ratings from Miami’s match vs. Minnesota.
Goalkeeping
🧤 Oscar Ustari - 7.5: Had some good saves, but most of the goals were more defensive errors rather than poor goalkeeping.
Defense:
💨 Jordi Alba - 8: Besides Messi, the only main attacking outlet for Miami.
🐥 Noah Allen - 7.2: A good defensive shift from the youngster, though his center back partner didn’t really help him out much.
🧔♂️ Gonzalo Lujan - 6.9: Should be better!
🎻 Marcelo Weigandt - 6: Scored an own goal….
Midfield:
🐞 Federico Redondo - 6.5: Again, didn’t add much to the attack and was pulled at half-time.
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 7.8: Was the calm through the middle despite the chaos. Ended the match with the most tackles out of any outfield player and seven recoveries.
🍝 Yannick Bright - 7.6: Another good shift along Busquets.
Attack:
🐐 Lionel Messi - 8.3: Got the lone goal of the match!
💪 Benjamin Cremaschi -7.1: Though he made several good runs and ran his socks off, unfortunately, he didn’t have the attacking impact
💣 Telasco Segovia - 7.2: Looked better, but still don’t think he’s found the right position in this setup.
Substitutes:
🧉Tadeo Allende - 6: Very much out of form! When Fafa Picault is back fit, I foresee Allende being relegated to a bench role.
🍳 Ian Fray - N/A: By the time he came on, the game was out of reach for Miami, so giving him a rating wouldn’t add much to the narrative of the match.
🦒 Tomas Avilés - N/A: Like Fray, came into the match at a poor time and didn’t have a chance to make an impact.
🦁 Leo Afonso - N/A: Would like to see him get more playing time!
Coaching:
🔢 Javier Mascherano - 6.5: Rough match for the ex-Liverpool man. The substitutes were too late, and the game was mismanaged. Tactically, there were stints in the first half where Miami looked good, offensively. But, once Minnesota got their third of the match, it was very disjointed and lacked a consistent threat.

Going to put most on the Coach. When we traded-not sure why for some-not enough pieces ready to fill in gaps. Some don’t get enough time to mesh when subbed in. All together big disappointment as we except more. Time will tell if coach gets it together but…
Hi Alex, I don't agree with the ratings. Way too generous for a team that loses 4-1. Specially Mascherano's, but really no one should be above 4.
