Player Ratings: Reflecting on Inter Miami's Disappointing Draw vs. Toronto FC
All to play for tomorrow against LAFC!

Inter Miami sits second in the East after a 1-1 home draw against Toronto FC.
I wasn’t the best game from the Herons defensively; Letting a goal in against a Toronto side that sits close to the bottom of the East will raise questions.
However, one can argue that Miami wasn’t starting their first-choice center-back pairing of Noah Allen and Maxi Falcon, which would’ve made a significant difference.
Furthermore, you can also argue that tomorrow night’s game vs. LAFC will be the more important match in the long run.
Here are the Player Ratings from Miami’s Sunday night draw vs. Toronto.
Goalkeeping:
🧤 Drake Callender - 7: His first full start back from injury. Did okay, but it was evident the communication with his backline wasn’t there, as seen in Toronto’s goal.
Defense:
💨 Jordi Alba - 7.3: Again, didn’t do anything glaringly wrong, had the speed and energy to get down the flank, but it wasn’t his day.
🧔♂️ Gonzalo Lujan - 6.7: Was caught out several times throughout the match and could’ve had better positioning leading up to the first goal.
🦒 Tomas Avilés - 6.5: For every good game Aviles has, there are two or three others where he doesn’t play up to his potential. This game was one of them.
🍳 Ian Fray - 6.8: Got pulled at half-time, but still did well enough to put off Toronto’s attack while he could. Do think he’ll probably start on Wednesday.
Midfield:
💣 Telasco Segovia - 7.8: Got the assist on Messi’s goal and looked better than he did during his last outing.
🐞 Federico Redondo - 7.2: While his skill set (height, vision, etc.) is there, I do think that going forward, Bright and Busquets should be the preferred midfield pairing. That said, Redondo had a solid game against Toronto, barring a few misplaced passes.
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 8: Another great game from ‘Busi.’ Had several well-timed tackles and ended the match with 16 passes into the final third.
🪽 Robert Taylor - 7: A ‘meh’ game from the Finland international. Not his day.
Attack:
🔫 Luis Suárez - 7.2: This match was a weird one for a lot of players - including Suarez. For every “stinker” of a match he has, he’ll come back and probably score twice in the next one.
🐐 Lionel Messi - 8.7: Best player on the field. Got the goal, created the most chances, and had the most shots.
Substitutes:
🎻 Marcelo Weigandt - 7: Welcome back!
🦌 Fafa Picault - 7.4: Had a few good chances to get Miami the lead but couldn’t quite connect.
🙏 Allen Obando - N/A: He’s 18, just moved to a new country, and it was his first start - he needs to get settled down. No rating for him this week!
👶 Santiago Morales - N/A: Wasn’t on the ball a lot to give an accurate rating.
🍝 Yannick Bright - N/A: Had a few great tackles to shore up Miami defensively but didn’t play long enough to warrant a proper rating.
Coaching:
🔢 Javier Mascherano - 7: Though Messi trained just fine this morning, I do think pushing him to do a full 90 wasn’t wise. Besides that, I thought that, personnel-wise, he could’ve switched it up in terms of the wings. For example, if Fafa wasn’t working on the right, try him on the left to change it up a bit. Or, if Segovia wasn’t getting much going on the right, try him on the left to combine more with Messi. Learning curve!
Thoughts on the match? How do you think they’ll do tomorrow vs. LAFC?
Let me know in the comments!
Game of many missed chances for both teams. Drake shook the rust off by second half dont follow Toronto much but they looked good in this game will see if their record improves from here i guess. What do you think about the KDB to IMCF rumors? Think the other team you also covering would want him
