Inter Miami continue their solid MLS form with a 3-1 win over Nashville SC.
After conceding early in the match (which seems to be a common occurrence with the team) the Herons got their act together, led by Lionel Messi.
The World Cup winner scored in the 11th minute, assisted in the 39th, and capped off a wonderful footballing display with a penalty in the 81st.
This takes the Argentine to the top of the MLS Golden Boot with seven goals through six matches.
Without further ado, here are Player Ratings from Miami’s win vs. Nashville SC.
Goalkeeping, Defense:
🧤 Drake Callendar- 7: Better than previous matches. Commanded his box well and kept Nashville’s backline quiet.
🍝 Franco Negri - 7.5: Solid game from the left-back. A perfect option for Miami now that Alba is out for a while.
🐻 Nicolás Freire - 8: Didn’t put a foot wrong throughout the match. Kept everything in front of him.
🦌 Tomas Avilés - 7.5: A really good center-back option next to Freire. Played well.
🎻 Marcelo Weigandt - 8.5: Ran his legs off once again. Though replacing DeAndre Yedlin took a while, Weigandt is a solid replacement.
Midfield:
💈 David Ruiz - 7: Didn’t do anything glaringly wrong. Circulated the ball well and plugged the holes in defense when needed.
🧮 Sergio Busquets - 7.8: One of his better matches of the season, rarely lost the ball and got Miami out of pressure cooker situations.
🥨 Julian Gressel - 7: A quiet game for the German-American, but was an integral part of the Heron midfield in attack.
Attack:
✌️ Diego Gómez - 8.3: Shame about the injury! Once again impressed by his stamina. Hopefully, his ankle isn’t too serious.
🔫 Luis Suárez - 6.5: Not his best match, but he managed to make a menace out of himself vs. Nashville’s backline.
🐐 Lionel Messi - 10: Scored a brace and assist. Now with 14 G/A in all competitions for the men in pink.
Substitutes:
🦁(#73) Leo Afonso - 7: Love his energy off the bench. Nice to see Academy products/College SuperDraft picks come through and make an immediate impact.
☀️ Yannick Bright - 6: Had a couple of nice touches paired well next to Busquets to shore up the midfield.
💪 Benjamin Cremaschi - N/A: Didn’t play long enough to make an impact, but I’m glad to see him back on the field for Miami.
Coaching:
🔢 Tata Martino - 7.5: Maybe waited a little too long with the substitutions, but I liked his tactical tweak to tell Negri not to overlap as much to match Nashville numerically.
A quick note on…Diego Gomez and Matias Rojas:
On Rojas: He’ll be announced within the next week or so. Was seen walking around the stadium.

Great game. Messi and Busi are great as always. We needed this one too. Hope Diego is okay.
Good game. I hope Gomez isn't out for too long. That being said, I still see a lot of sloppy passing out of the back. They need to work on their passing during these week-long breaks between games.
