My heart breaks a little for Ruiz. Bad enough to lose your head in a match, but when you're so young with such a spotlight on you... Hope he can shake it off.

On another note, your choice of images next to the players names always cracks me up.

Same :( I like him as a player and he'll definitely learn from this. And yeah? The emojis, haha!

I feel that's too rough on Aviles. He deserved a 9 or more in my book. He scored the opener and made monster clearances that would have been sure goals otherwise. He also made the right decision passing to Gomez, Gomez made the mistake of not clearing the ball or controlling it.

On a separate note, I really really wanted to see a replay of the potential handball/possible penalty right before the second goal. Could have been a major decision. I'm not saying it was the wrong call, just wanted to double-check and make sure, for peace of mind.

We continue to believe. Messi will bring us back

Hey Bassam! In all honesty, if this was an MLS game I would've given Toto a higher score, but in the Champions Cup (League) mistakes like that are magnified. I do agree he had a good game and had some solid stops, but one lapse in concentration is costly. I mentioned in another comment that had Aviles just cleared the ball instead playing a short pass that goal probably wouldn't have happened. But, I think they'll do better in the second leg.

Gomez was at fault for the second goal, not Aviles... Gomez has grown on me this year, so strong and never ending energy, but he's lacks the final third quality. Not upset with his sloppy touch, wouldn't be in that position if it wasn't for Ruiz. Tata should have subbed him for Sunderland after the yellow. I thought the tactics were solid this game. Also wondered if there was hand ball that wasn't called.

Hey Matthew! Aviles' short pass in his own 18 years box to Gomez led to the the goal if you go back and check the tape. In that situation you would normally clear your lines and reset. Not try to play it out of your own box.

Yeah it had to be a disappointment but I’m still pretty hopeful we can turn this around if we have Messi even for 30 minutes. The sad thing is Ruiz played well until the second yellow. I’m sure he’ll learn from it. They looked good until the red card though. Suarez is still a beast.

Hey Gina! Yeah you live and learn as a footballer. Ruiz is a great player and it's something he'll have to take on the chin.
