I’m really glad you got into the specific players and the disparity in salaries. We do need better defense (pretty obvious to everyone at this point) and a center back. But this is also what the preseason is for.
Hey Gina! Thanks for reading! And I think that's a point everyone seems to miss! The Saudi league spends a small county's GDP on players. MLS has a salary cap. The talent level (bar Busquets, Suarez, Alba, Messi) is wide. It reminds me of that Barcelona friendly Miami had in 2022 when they lost 5-0. Similar reactions there. But I think the FO will bring in the proper players and adjust accordingly!
Well, they need another center back and a playmaker that can replace Messi when not on the pitch and I don't quite see the need to add a young Busi when the two positions I mentioned should be of a much higher priority.
Hey Ralph! Thanks for reading! Miami need another ball playing midfielder to play alongside Busquets. I think they're having difficulty progressing the ball through the middle when Busi is man marked. Adding Redondo would alleviate that. And yes, I agree another defender is needed!
Alex, they need to replace Farias and Redondo isn't that kind of player. Farias was supposedly going to be Plan B when Messi isn't available which will be often I fear.
When I say they're having trouble playing through the midfield, I'm talking out building out from the back which is what Tata wants to do.
So many of the goals Miami has conceded have come through sloppy play from playing out of the defensive line. Getting in a midfielder like Redondo would help that issue, because he seems quite comfortable under pressure. The only midfielder who's able to do that on Miami’s roster is Busquets and maybe Mota.
I don't think they're bringing in a Farias like for like replacement without breaking the bank. Also, with Stefanelli gone, they'll probably acquire another attack anyway, maybe not the type you're looking for.
