In truth I never thought they'd make it far in this competition (I had them going out to Nashville). People were talking about them winning a treble but the team is so young and so new, this year was always going to be a struggle for them, even with the big names on the roster. I just wish they'd gone out on a better game because they're capable of it. But, onto the league (I'm not counting Saturday's game, they'll be tired, but after that - onto the league).

Precisely. They've shown that quality in the past. It's just about getting fit, now.

Yeah a rough game all around but I’ve always thought it was too ambitious to go for CCC and MLS cup. This team is still forming and I think we just need to focus on staying at the top of the table for now.

I think the rest of the season should be less tumultuous!

All these ratings are quite generous. Zeroes for everybody except Messi and Busquets who were doing their best but there is only so much you can do when no one else can connect a pass or control the ball.

The 5-3-2 from Tata was horrible. Too many holes in the midfield compared to the compact lineup from last week. Last week's lineup with Messi might have actually worked. They played a good game last time.

That being said, I'm actually glad Tata did not make any sub. The game was over and there are absolutely zero reasons to let Benja, Alfonso, or Bright be involved in this debacle or even have this embarrassment of a game on their resume. I think Tata was trying to make a statement to the players in this team that he was not gonna save them from the mess they created (which he is partially responsible for, but the players have a lot of responsibility as well)

Hey Bassam! Thanks for reading! I like that take you had at the end, there. Tata may have left the same starting XI on to prove a point. That being said I'm glad they were able to end the game unscathed and without injury. That was my biggest concern and why I was puzzled that Tata didn't sub some players out earlier.

Your ratings are better tonight. Callender sucked with that first allowed goal. Also the way Callender throws and kicks out balls is totally ignorant of the opportunity he has to start a possession well, Callender has no idea how to clear a ball and start a possession well, a coach who is knowledgeable with that needs to coach him on it. Noah Allen sucked but especially with that pass in front of the goal that almost got stolen, absolutely stupid, should never be done. Noah Allen's passes are not well thought out to accomplish anything other than possession. Same could be said for most of the team. Gressel also sucked today, his passes and shots rarely are accurate or useful. Lastly, Messi should have scored on at least 2 or 3 of his shots. Tata should have subbed earlier, but mainly Tata bares responsibility for too many players on this team not knowing the fundamentals of quality professional futbol. This team sucks and underperforms regularly, when they should be able to win every game on their schedule. Right now I am calling it, there is no championship future for this InterMiami team. Messi is going to have to miss a lot of Miami games for Copa America 2024, and he should because Argentina is a great team worthy of showing up for.

how could you leave suarez off the suck list?

I was very disappointed in the Barcelona Rushmore. None were sharp, and Alba, Messi and Suarez were arrogant and petulant. They seemed offended that Monterrey’s defense smothered their short-passing, central attack and (Tata bears much of this blame) failed to show any versatility or imagination in attack.

Callendar made an egregious error, there can be no excuse, but he continued to play well and made some great saves.

On the night, our starting 11 weren’t good enough, and I think Tata made a terrible mistake not making any substitutions and telling the media his young players aren’t ready for cup competition. That’s a copout for his stubbornly clinging to his Rushmore and the other starters. Even if it were true, announcing it to the media is a slap in the face to the bench players.

I wonder what the Herons’ locker room is like; how are the Argentine stars adjusting to not winning, and what is their relationship with their teammates?

Messi & Co. have given the club some of its most iconic moments (OK, there aren’t many

just 4 1/2 seasons in) and some beautiful football, but I’m still more interested in the overall development of the club.

Let’s hope they can build a nice collection of points between now and July, when the Leagues Cup starts, and make a strong showing in the MLS playoffs.

I agree with Alex, this roster isn’t built to navigate multiple simultaneous competitions, especially with its key players’ age and what seems like an unusual number of injuries.

But I’ll keep tuning in. The Herons will continue to be one of the world’s most interesting teams, for sure!

the reality, this teams purpose is to be a retirement team for messi and through their popularity- make money and fame- that is the sporting project of INTER MIAMI- its a sad reality that every miami fan has to accept, this team is over achieving in my opinion, because they play messi and suarez who cannot do track back, busquest is half wit now, doesnt have stamina, jordi alba is good , - plus the mls roster rules, how can someone build a team to win big with all thse GAM, TAM , things, bullshit, - so my humble opinion lets all enjoy the final years of leo messi THE GREATEST PLAYER IN THE HISTORY with a smile on our face and LETS BE GRATEFUL THAT HE IS STILL PLAYING- HE HAS GIVEN US EVERYTHING, WORLD CUP, COPA AMERICA- HE EVEN GAVE A TROPHY TO INTER MIAMI WHICH WAS THE WORST TEAM IN USA A YEAR BEFORE - LETS BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN INSTEAD OF complaints

I miss Phil Neville and I'm only half kidding! lol. At least you could understand his press conferences. Other thought is the countdown has started for an Argentine goalie to show up and I'm not kidding at all. You know it's bound to happen.
